See the difference with Durstons

  • Expertise

We make compost from our family farm in Somerset. That’s it. And being focused on one thing means we bring all of our passion and knowledge to every bag.

  • Quality

Our no-compromise approach means we use responsibly sourced ingredients, high-quality manufacturing and friendly, helpful service so you can trust us to help you grow.

  • Performance

We’re proud to put our products forward to be tried and tested by independent experts, ensuring they perform for you each and every time.

We have a simple aim: to make a difference to everyone we deal with

That means making a visible difference for the gardeners who use Durstons, so their hard work is rewarded with more plants, bigger blooms and more productive gardens.

The Durstons Difference

During our 150 year existence a lot’s changed. We’ve always blended technology and tradition to deliver for our customers. From a manual working farm to a fully automated modern growing media production plant, our business may have shifted, but our philosophy is the same: performance.

Today, we’re capable of producing and packing a wide range of compost and garden products. We have the capability and expertise to adapt or change our product base, specifications, levels of production and packaging to comply with the most stringent performance requirements of our customers.

The strengths within this modern organisation are due in no small part to the work of Chris, Steve and Dan Durston, our current Directors. During the past fifteen years, Durstons have established a fine reputation for sound business practice in which the performance of our products and our responsibility for customer satisfaction forms the highest priority.

These strengths allow Durstons to furnish the needs of customers across the entire spectrum of the modern garden products business in a wide range of retail outlets.

Leadership Team

  • Chris Durston

    Managing director

Chris represents the 5th generation of the family business, joining his father Stanley at the farm in 1965. He now oversees all sales and marketing, as well as managing Gro Boost production. Chris is also project managing the Eclipse site, which we purchased in 2024, and is preparing the site and buildings ready for us to relocate there in 2026. When he’s not obsessing over compost, Chris enjoys walking, history, and classic cars.

    Sales Director

Dan is the 6th generation of the family business and joined in 1998. He worked for 18 years in the factory before moving into sales. Dan now manages the sales team and national accounts.
